Our major concerns of this year are to
1.Integrate core values into English curriculum
In order to build core values through reading and understanding, students are provided with e—learning platforms to learn about the core values Family and Love. Our school is to develop school-based learning packages to integrate the core values Family and Love.
2.Enrich students' learning experience through in-class and out-of-class activities
Organize and Implement a diverse range of co-curricular activities, both individual grades, during recess, P1-6 Fun lessons and the post-exam period.
3. Enhance students' learning effectiveness and participation in class
In order to sustain the optimization of teaching and learning to cater for learners' diversity, our school is to develop the use of Help Corners, apply small class teaching strategies and design HOT questions in the learning and teaching process.
Our English Language-rich Learning Environment
To provide our students with an English Language-rich Learning Environment is always the top priority of our school policy. We encourage and create an authentic English-speaking environment for the whole school.
We have English morning assembly on Wednesdays and Fridays. Each class will take turn to do an English class performance each term. We also have an English radio programme every Friday. Our English Ambassadors act as the DJs who read out messages and dedicate songs to the schoolmates. We will provide various English activities in our English Corner and school throughout the year.
Furthermore, as we have a full time NET, he will help conduct English language activities at recess time and lunch breaks, including English games and interview trainings using various topics for interaction.

English Handbooks
To familiarize the students with the school instructions and classroom language, each student has an English Handbook. It includes common classroom language and useful phrases for writing, songs and beautiful hymns that students can sing along.
Our NET

My name is Arthur and it’s a privilege to introduce myself as the Native-speaking English Teacher of Mary of Providence Primary School. I am originally from Brazil, and I have been teaching in Hong Kong for a number of years. Over my years of teaching, I have been fortunate to have had the experience of working with students of various backgrounds in Hong Kong, from international school pupils to Japanese and local school children. With the experiences I have gathered, I hope to bring the best of my expertise into practise to the benefit of our students.
At MOPPS, we utilize a tailor-made Reading and Writing programme for P1-P4 classes. In this class, we will explore various text types that are essential for students to understand. We will actively work towards building our writing skills and students will be encouraged to add their creativity to all their writing efforts. We will read different books on a module basis with various topics to assist students with their imaginative output, as well as their general reading proficiency.
In Key Stage 2, students will have the opportunity to express their creative flair in two gifted programmes. We aim to produce short, meaningful, and fun films to be viewed and enjoyed by many. These are task-based programmes whereby students must collaborate with their peers, share the same vision, and pursue a mutual goal. Also, in Key Stage 2, students will meet with me each week to practice their interview skills for their secondary school entry interviews.
Students at MOPPS will get many opportunities to collaborate with me at various out-of-the-classroom duties. We elect students to be English Ambassadors who will meet with me weekly to promote the English environment of the school. Students will also participate in various English activities throughout the year, such as presenting during the lunch time radio and weather reports, and carrying out the English recess games.
